Bernie Forestier, born in 1966, is a self-taught artist who lives and works in . After obtaining a degree in applied foreign languages in Poitiers in 1990, she always sought to escape the tertiary world by immersing herself in drawing and painting, a ion she has nurtured since a young age.
Primarily using pencil on paper, Bernie plays with a restrained but powerful palette of three colors: red, white and black. This combination allows him to explore striking contrasts and create works that are both simple and deeply expressive.
His artistic journey began with oil pastels, often to represent landscapes. However, over the years and after taking private lessons, she naturally turned to figurative art. Exploring different techniques, she experimented with acrylic, mixing this paint with varnish, sand or plaster to add texture and relief to her paintings.
About two years ago, faced with a blank, uninspired page, Bernie discovered a new approach. By closing her eyes and letting her hand move intuitively across the paper, she created curves, meanders and strokes that formed the basis of her current works. These abstract drawings often reveal hidden faces or shapes, which Bernie then develops with meticulousness and spontaneous creativity.
Bernie's works, grouped under the concept "Curves and Meanders", are the result of an inner exploration and an encounter with the unknown. Each drawing is a new adventure, a discovery, where red and black naturally adorn the intuitive shapes she creates.
