Ravens and humans often share similar behaviors when it comes to finding food and protecting themselves from danger. Both use tools to manipulate and adapt to their environment. Cooperation between ravens and humans has been an important part of survival in some cultures. In some indigenous communities, ravens were viewed as messengers and protectors, and their presence was interpreted as a sign of coming change.
This shared survival story of ravens and humans demonstrates that both species can adapt, learn, and work together to survive in an ever-changing world.
A total of 1,000 of these ravens have escaped my studio and are swarming through the skies. From time to time, they settle and occupy various squares and bridges.
These have so far appeared in , among other cities, in Berlin, Bonn, Düsseldorf, Hamburg, Cologne, and Munich.
Some sightings have even been reported internationally. I've received photos and information from Austria, Switzerland, Italy, the Netherlands, , Spain, Portugal, Morocco, South Africa, Scotland, Sweden, Luxembourg, Denmark, Hungary, Costa Rica, Canada, Romania, and even Kyrgyzstan (Central Asia).
These special (domestic) ravens are rolled up by hand in and coated with epoxy resin to protect them from the elements.
