Donatella Marraoni inizia il suo magnifico viaggio nell’arte nel '95 all'Accademia di Belle Arti di Perugia, diplomandosi nel '98 con lode. In questo stesso anno si trasferisce in Inghilterra dove vivrà per 5 anni.

Inizia così ad esporre in Italia e all’estero in prestigiose gallerie private e sedi pubbliche, ottenendo fin da subito importanti riconoscimenti ed il consenso della critica specializzata. Nel marzo 2014 ottiene un riconoscimento dal Direttore della Galleria Selenograd in Russia ed inizia ad esporre e vendere le sue opere in tutto il mondo.

Nei suoi quadri la donna è il soggetto centrale: protagonista in scene di amore, attesa, ione, dolore, abbandono, desiderio, perversione. Donatella definisce i suoi lavori nati dal caos, dalla confusione: caratterizzati da linee forti, veloci, non finite, graffianti. L’artista desidera suscitare emozioni, narrare situazioni e storie di vita usando mezzi di comunicazione estremamente vari quali olio, china, pigmenti, vetro, cemento e caffè. Le "sue donne" parlano di amore e degli uomini... primi fra tutti suo padre che a suo tempo l'ha iscritta all'Accademia e che ora, nonostante non ci sia più, partecipa a pieno titolo alle sue creazioni essendo il suo ricordo impresso nella tela tramite l'uso del cemento. Suo padre... un muratore, un uomo... il primo che ha capito, il suo primo vero sostenitore. A lui sono dedicati i lavori "lettere di caffè" dove l'artista racconta di sè e intimamente si apre a lui. La sua prima esposizione risale al 1997 e da allora ad oggi si sono susseguite numerosissime personali e collettive in gallerie e musei in Italia e all’estero.
