"...Mardis Gras was born from an experimental improvisation, over a few years, with six hands following our meeting during a group exhibition (Galerie 3.1 in Toulouse). Originally a trio with Emilie Payros, Titos Kontou and Judith Latino, our method consists of painting side by side on the same painting which we discuss very little beforehand.
We work mainly in oil painting on large formats and our figurative representations are part of an intuitive and immediate art.
Equally creators and performers, we let our inspirations feed each other and remain free to revisit each other's proposals. This approach has led us since our meeting to deepen our plastic exchanges and develop a parallel dialogue beyond words.
Through a "romantic and carnivalesque" painting, we appropriate mythological scenes and characters, originating from diverse cultures and eras, which, by their timeless character, offer an inexhaustible source of aesthetic proposals, while questioning the fundamental notions inherent to the human condition...."
