Sobre o tema da pintura/About the painting theme:
Fernando Pessoa (Lisboa, 1888 – Lisboa, 1935) foi um homem multifacetado (poeta, dramaturgo, ensaísta, tradutor, publicitário, astrólogo, inventor, empresário, correspondente comercial, crítico literário e comentador político português), considerado um dos poetas mais ilustres do modernismo e um dos maiores expoentes da literatura portuguesa.
Enquanto poeta, escreveu sob o nome de diversas personalidades, a que ele próprio chamou heterónimos, como Bernardo Soares, Ricardo Reis, Álvaro de Campos e Alberto Caeiro –, sendo os dois últimos objeto da maior parte dos estudos sobre a sua vida e obra. Mas havia muitas mais "almas" na sua existência.
Foi então no seu poema intitulado “Não sei quantas almas tenho” - escrito enquanto Fernando Pessoa ortónimo, ou seja, ele próprio e não os heterónimos- na pintura de Magritte intitulada Golconda e no retrato de Fernando Pessoa pintado por Almada Negreiro, que me inspirei para a realização desta pintura .
Portanto poema «Não Sei quantas Almas Tenho» de Fernando Pessoa, foi o mote para eu pintar esta espécie de triplo tributo – a Fernando Pessoa, a Almada Negreiros e a René Magritte. -
