Confucius Kong Qiu (孔丘), the Chinese philosopher of the Spring and Autumn period who is traditionally considered the paragon of Chinese sages, said that “the wise love water, the good love mountains." Wisdom and goodness are not mutually exclusive, just as mountains and water come together to form a perfect whole, so too is the human experience enhanced by the fusion of conflicting qualities and impulses. The sum is indeed greater than the parts.

The wise love water because so much remains to be learned underneath its surface. The good love mountains because everything is laid out in front of them before their very eyes. We all need a mix of exploration and contemplation.

Ecologically, mountains play a critical role in the water cycle by capturing moisture from air masses; when this precipitation falls as snow, it is stored until it melts in the spring and summer, providing essential water for settlements, agriculture and industries downstream - often during the period of lowest rainfall. At the global scale, mountains' greatest value may be as sources of all the world's major rivers.

Wang Jiang, born in 1986, is a contemporary Chinese sculptor based in Beijing. He holds both a BA and an MA from the Academy of Arts & Design of Tsinghua University, a prestigious institution recognized as one of the world’s leading art universities.

Wang Jiang’s sculptures are primarily crafted from bronze and stainless steel, embodying deep oriental perspectives, wisdom, and philosophy. His work celebrates the spirit of nature and explores the interconnections and interdependencies within the universe.

A distinctive feature of Wang Jiang’s art is its use of COLORING. Employing both thermal and cold coloring processes in conjunction with hand painting, he deliberately simplifies the details of his subjects and employs gradient coloring to infuse his pieces with emotional depth. This technique enhances the sense of form from a distance while revealing subtle nuances up close.

Wang Jiang's work has been acquired by celebrities, private collectors, and corporate clients across Asia. As a member of the China Urban Sculptors Association, he has undertaken over 20 large-scale sculptural projects nationwide since 2014, including art museum murals, hotel lobby sculptures, and installations in city squares and scenic areas.
