"Gay men have learned to live with and resist a series of difficulties that threaten their spirit, mind, and even physical integrity. They face discrimination in all its forms, exclusion, rejection, stigma, violence, conversion therapies, and painful family and religious rejection. This is a heavy burden that not all manage to bear and overcome. Therefore, we must embrace PRIDE and use it as a prism to deconstruct and transmute all that negativity and intolerance into positive and brave energy. An energy that drives us to build a better world to live in, a world literally more joyful and full!"
This compelling pastel painting depicts a male figure, looking upwards with an expression of profound earnestness or spiritual aspiration. A radiant golden halo or disc emanates from behind his head, suggesting divinity, sanctity, or enlightenment. From his chest, a vibrant, broad beam of rainbow light extends outwards, a powerful symbol often associated with the LGBTQ+ community, diversity, and hope.
To the left of the figure, gnarled, root-like or branch-like forms emerge, perhaps symbolizing struggle, grounding, or a connection to something ancient and resilient. The overall composition uses light and shadow effectively, with rays of light seemingly breaking through from the upper right, illuminating the figure and emphasizing the spectrum of colors. The texture of the pastel medium is evident, lending a soft yet rich quality to the imagery. The artwork powerfully conveys themes of inner light, transcendence, and the transformative potential of embracing one's true self amidst challenges.

I am a Mexican self-taught aspiring artist, inspired by the richness of color but most of all, by the beauty of the human body, I’m in pursuit of depicting its enticing magic.

I became interested in art at a very young age, my father used to have some art books of Frank Frazetta, Boris Vallejo and Chris Achilleos.  I being spellbound by their artwork, by the fantasy worlds they depicted but most of all by the beauty of the human figure. My father (a doctor) liked to make copies of those illustrations as a hobby, and sometimes, for whatever reason he didn’t finish them, so I would take them and tried to complete them, that is how I started drawing and coloring with colored pencils, as time went by it became a serious hobby for me, but school duties and choosing a profession took all of my time and effort. I went to the university and got a Bachelor’s Degree in ing. But my love for painting and drawing never went away, so a few years ago I decided to take it seriously and dedicate my entire time to it.

As a gay artist, I’m always in pursuit of depicting the beauty and sensuality of the male body, trying to capture his erotic essence and surround it with a halo of fantasy and mysticism and even some danger, and of course to tell a story, a story of seduction, pain and pleasure.  I try to make the viewer to come up with his own idea of what is going on in each piece.

Being a self-taught artist has its complications, without an academic endorsement, sometimes I fear I´m not good enough or I feel I have some disadvantage, but it also encourage me to improve and give my best in each work; and of course there is the element of discovery of new techniques and approaches to painting, I try to learn something new every day, which I do by following artist like Roberto Ferri, Michael Breyette or Cuong Nguyen just to mention a few.

I don’t feel at ease if I´m not painting, it’s the only thing I want to do, I  become obsessed with each work I start, wandering what will I do to make it work, what will the result be or if someone will like it or not. But now I´m absolutely sure that this is my vocation and purpose in life.
