EN - This LEGO sculpture, composed of 11,000 pieces, bridges collective memory and contemporary aesthetics, reimagining Muhammad Ali as both a universal icon and a symbol of resilience. The artist masterfully uses a palette of brown, cream, and coral tones on the front, creating a striking portrait. Brown evokes strength and grounding, cream symbolizes the light of ideals, while coral brings a vibrant energy, echoing Ali’s ion. The pixelated texture deconstructs realism, elevating Ali beyond a sporting legend to a figure of timeless significance.
The reverse shifts radically into abstraction, transforming Ali’s raised fists into a functional QR code. This technological intervention redefines the sculpture as an interactive experience. Scanning the code leads to qargo.art, a platform where Ali’s enduring values—justice, equality, and courage—are explored. The warm color palette continues on this side, with brown, cream, and coral conveying unity, memory, and hope, rejecting stark contrasts for a more inclusive harmony.
The signature of Masahiro Hara, the inventor of the QR code, adds another layer of meaning, uniting art and technology in a shared vision. By choosing LEGO as a medium—rooted in play and construction—the artist challenges conventional forms of homage. This work is not static; it invites viewers to engage, connect, and reflect on the legacy of a man who fought not just in the ring but for humanity’s shared ideals. It is less a tribute and more a space for dialogue, where Ali’s spirit continues to inspire and connect across generations.
