Rolando Sampaolesi nasce a Pollenza (MC) nel 1940. Giovanissimo si dedica all'arte, sostenuto da una naturale vocazione. Agli inizi si dedica al disegno e alla pittura per poi approdare definitivamente alla scultura che sente più congeniale al suo modo di operare. In questo settore realizza una molteplicità di opere di piccola e grande dimensione, dando prova di sapiente manualità e di uno stile personale ed esclusivo in bilico tra la visione razionale e l'astrazione ideale. Molto intensa la sua attività nell'ambito dell'arte sacra. Tra le opere più significative figurano: la statua in bronzo "Padre Pio" eretta in Piazza Guido Rossa a Treia; le sculture in legno "San sco" e "Il Crocifisso" collocate nella chiesa della Natività della Beata Vergine Maria a Treia; il tabernacolo ligneo nella chiesa di Villa San Filippo a Monte San Giusto; un ampio pannello decorativo installato nel monastero delle Clarisse a Macerata e ultima cronologicamente, la statua lignea "Santo Anacoreta Vittorino" nella chiesa di Pioraco. Oltre alle sculture a tutto tondo e alla serie di bassorilievi, la sua produzione artistica, sempre molto stilizzata e raffinata, comprende installazioni ambientali, architetture urbane, oggetti di design e di arredamento.
