Originaire de banlieue parisienne, Socrate est une artiste issue du mouvement graffiti. Après plusieurs années à couvrir les murs de peinture à l’aide de bombes aérosol, elle e du urbain à la toile.
Elle met en scène dans ses œuvres un univers très contrasté : la nature colorée et sauvage du graffiti est confrontée à la bichromie noir et blanc des photos. De la même manière, l’énergie et le mouvement qui caractérisent l’art urbain et ses fonds colorés anime ses images figées, temporelles.
