And here, gentlemen, is a philosophical image of time, humility and inner strength. The anthropomorphic creature presented by the artist embodies a combination of experience and youth: his face is covered with deep wrinkles, but his eyes remain clear, full of thoughts and observations. This contrast between physical fatigue and the liveliness of his gaze reminds us of the wisdom that comes with age but does not fade.
The character's choice of clothing - jeans and a colorful sleeveless jacket - adds a sense of ordinariness, as if this ancient mythical ibex lives among people, hiding its nature behind its everyday appearance. The hooves, however, reveal its true origin, creating a bizarre balance between the mystical and the real.
The round shape of the painting and its composition make the figure of the ibex literally "fit" into the limited space. His pose seems humble and uncomfortable, as if he is aware of his inevitable attachment to the cycle of life, to the cycle of time, which is impossible to leave. In this one can see a deep allegory of human destiny - each of us is assigned his place and his path, but within the inevitable framework of time and space. Viсtor Molev masterfully conveys the mood of the picture through details, creating not just an image, but a whole story. "Old Capricorn" makes you think about how a person relates to time, fate and his inner world, remaining wise despite all the difficulties. The picture is imbued with a sense of deep reflection and philosophical submission to the inevitability of life.

Victor Molev is a contemporary award-winning Canadian artist. He is working in the styles of Decorative Realism, Fantasy, Symbolism and Surrealism. In the mid-1970s, as an aspiring young artist, he took drawing and painting lessons under the apprenticeship of Moscow sculptor Tatyana Vishnyakova. But it wasn’t until his early twenties that Molev became familiar with the works of Salvador Dali, Max Ernst, Rene Magritte, M.C. Escher and Frank Frazetta through books and magazines. Molev was incredibly inspired by these artists which became like mentors to him.
After receiving an education in architecture, the artist worked in the field for ten years. He then worked as a set designer at the Pushkin Opera and Ballet Theater. Both of these jobs are still reflected in the creative processes of the artist. He has created his own unique and intuitive world of dreams and absurdity. His works are sincerely naive and kind.
Victor Molev was born in 1955, in Gorky, Russia. His works were exhibited all over the world, including the Art Museum of Saint-Frajou, . Molev has also participated in numerous international competitions of humorous drawing, and won numerous silver and bronze medals.
